Tooth loss can affect your appearance, as well as your ability to eat easily and speak clearly. Beyond appearance and function, however, missing teeth can also promote deterioration of the jawbone. When the jawbone recedes, cheeks and lips cave inward, and a patient can look many years older.
Dr. Chris and Dr. Matt frequently recommend dental implants to replace individual teeth that have been lost or to act as an anchor for bridgework or dentures. If you have sufficient bone tissue and good oral health, your dentist will work with an oral surgeon or a periodontist on your dental implant case. In a brief surgery, the surgeon will place a titanium post into the jawbone. This post will act as the anchor for the implant crown and will actually help to prevent bone loss of the jawbone. After the post is secured, we will attach a permanent, porcelain replacement tooth to the titanium anchor. With custom color matching, the dental implant will blend with the natural teeth in your smile.
